By the grace of God, I had the opportunity to attend the servant leadership course. Although I have previously attended other leadership courses and seminars, I have never had the chance to dig this deeply into the subject. I am exceedingly pleased to have had the opportunity to understand the topics in greater depth in this course.
In my life and in my ministry, I have been leading based on observing my superiors’ practical actions. I often felt a lack of completeness in my leadership. This feeling was shared among my colleagues and fellow workers in our practical leadership roles. This lesson will be significantly useful and vital in my life and leadership work.
#From the Facilitator; By the grace of God, I have successfully completed Part 1 of the servant leadership course. It was observed that all the participants were current leaders in their respective organizations and ministries. Each participant attended the course with great enthusiasm and stayed engaged till the end. Through the discussions and testimonies shared by the participants, it was evident that they had gained a better understanding of their leadership styles, the authority they hold based on their roles, and their strengths and weaknesses within their current organizations. They also learned how to effectively contribute to a successful team.
As a facilitator, I am immensely grateful for the opportunity to lead the course. This experience has not only enhanced my skills but has also increased my confidence.

- However, understanding the strengths of my natural leadership type has brought me peace of mind and a sense of ease.
- Ultimately, I feel honored and fulfilled to contribute to God’s mission with this particular leadership style. Thank you.

- If I were to point out one flaw, it would be that offering such training now feels too late. These programs should have been introduced much earlier!

#02; “I am extremely delighted to have had the opportunity to attend the ‘Servant Leadership Training’ with fellow brothers/coworkers during this week. It was perfect God’s timing. I am also especially grateful to the instructors who taught us with dedication.
During this week’s ‘Servant Leadership Training,’ we primarily learned about how a leader should lead honestly and justly the church community through exemplary leadership. I also gained many lessons related to servant leadership.
I am very delighted. This week’s ‘Servant Leadership Training’ made us understand that our participation and conduct in God’s work should be exemplary in front of others. Additionally, this training has been very constructive and beneficial for my life. I am immensely joyful. I am very thankful for this training.”
#03; “When I attended the Servant Leadership Training, I noticed something about myself. I learned that I need to dedicate myself to God and always be mindful of my actions as I lead in ministry work. Therefore, we need to apply the lessons learned from servant leadership not only in theory but also practically in our lives, with humility, and continue to use them in ministry work. By doing so, we will grow even more. I believe that the Servant Leadership Training genuinely provides us with good results and positive outcomes.”
#04; First of all, I praise God for His grace. I also want to especially thank all the instructors who taught us. Among the many things we learned in the training, I would like to share one thing that inspired me. When I look at traditional leadership styles, I see that leadership is often about power and authority, relying on skills and competencies. However, as a servant leader in God’s Kingdom, I learned that it is essential to humble ourselves, show compassion, and cultivate future leaders who lead with love and humility. The key is to train and nurture leaders who will grow and develop good leaders for the future, allowing them to flourish.
#05; “I would like to say a few words. First, I want to thank all the instructors who taught us with love and dedication. I also thank God for providing the opportunity to attend this training together with fellow servants of the Lord. During this 5-day training, we learned excellent lessons and gained a lot of encouragement.
Previously, when I was involved in God’s ministry, I didn’t think the principles of servant leadership were necessary. I believed that giving my best was enough. However, after engaging with the servant leadership training, I realized many of our needs. I learned how to improve my attitude, how to work better with church members and fellow workers, and how to effectively collaborate with larger groups. I understood the importance of humility in our work.
I hesitated to attend this training initially, but once I did, I found that 5 days were too short. Regardless, I am extremely grateful to all the instructors. We have gained many new and good ideas to improve our current state and prepare our hearts to do better. Thank you.”
#06; “I praise God for His grace. I was very excited to attend this training. I wondered what kind of training it would be. When I found out it was a Servant Leadership Training, I initially thought it wouldn’t be very relevant to me. However, I decided to attend as a learner. Seeing that the other participants were more experienced leaders, I felt quite intimidated on the first day.
Nevertheless, the example of collaboration between our left and right hands shown by the instructors provided me with a lot of encouragement. I realized that when working on a task, our collective participation and unity in problem-solving are more important than ranks or positions.
On the second day, we learned lessons on how to adjust our attitudes when working with a team. I then realized that attending this training was the right decision. I am grateful for this training.
I learned excellent lessons during the 5-day training and gained a lot of encouragement. Previously, I thought that the principles of servant leadership were unnecessary for ministry. I believed giving my best was sufficient. However, interacting with the servant leadership training made me realize many of our needs. I learned how to adjust my attitude, work better with church members and colleagues, and collaborate effectively with larger groups. I understood the importance of humility in our work.
Initially, I hesitated to attend this training, but once I did, I found that 5 days were too short. Regardless, I am extremely grateful to all the instructors. We have gained many new and good ideas to improve our current state and prepare our hearts to do better. Thank you.”
#07; “When we understand and know God’s perspective in our actions, we will also gain profit. Then, God encourages us by saying that He will prepare and provide all the benefits in the areas we work in.”

P – 6 (Bawk Aung); I came to understand the kind of person I am when dealing with conflicts. Problems are inevitable, and conflicts arise when values are misunderstood or when leadership styles are not clear. People often avoid resolving conflicts and tend to dismiss or overlook them instead.
P – 7 (Tusai); The first step is to build and strengthen oneself.
P – 8 (Nansai); People generally appreciate and enjoy growth and success. However, conflicts are not only caused by others; from the perspective of others, I can also be a source of conflict.

- This time, I was initially concerned about partnering with Teacher Dee due to their limited experience and wondered if it would work out to co-teach with them. However, I came to realize that I had actually found an excellent collaborator.
Lesson 5 seemed to be the most impactful. The intense heat affected both the participants and the teachers, making it difficult to stay focused. - When health conditions are poor, the effectiveness of teaching can decline.
P – 4
- It’s important to share responsibilities and work together as a team.

- A leader must understand their own identity and weaknesses.
- It’s important to teach the people you lead to be discerning and able to say “no” when necessary.
- Teams are made up of diverse individuals, so mutual respect and connection are essential.
- Problems are not to be avoided but to be solved. When resolving issues, as a team, it’s important to carefully consider who should be involved, who shouldn’t, and why. Once a consensus is reached, the agreed-upon solutions need to be implemented.
These are the insights I’ve gained from this course.
I’m incredibly excited and eager to put them into practice!
P – 6 (Myo Ring Aung); Attending this course opened my eyes to an important realization:
- Although I identify as a follower of Christ, my leadership style hasn’t truly followed His example. I became aware that my approach to problem-solving and the way I exercise authority have deviated from Christ’s teachings.

- I came to understand that I am a leader.

P – 8 (Brang Aung) ; As a leader, I’ve learned many essential qualities, skills, and attitudes that I should embody. When working on a task, it’s important not to do everything alone but to inspire and encourage each team member to actively participate.
P – 9 (Bawk Nan); What I’ve come to realize is:
- Tasks should be assigned based on the strengths and abilities of each team member.
- When working with a team, it’s important to have a clear understanding of why you are part of that team.
- I’ve gained practical ideas for solving problems that arise while working in a team.
P – 10 (Gum Kawng); After attending this servant leadership course:
- I felt a significant sense of relief. I used to feel constant pressure when it came to leadership. By understanding and accepting my own weaknesses, I realized that many things I once saw as problems were not really problems at all. Things like feeling guilty, resisting change, and not listening to others were areas I needed to work on, and I’m now certain about making those changes.
- This course isn’t just helpful for leadership—it’s been incredibly beneficial for life as a whole.
- I gained much greater clarity about what I truly need.
Summary report from the Trainer #13 #13 25-29 NOV- Kalang Putao
The Servant Leadership Workshop was held in Awatdam Village, Kalang Region, from November 25 to 29, 2024. The workshop aimed to provide Christian leaders with an understanding of servant leadership principles, focusing on the Christian leadership perspective as exemplified by Jesus Christ. Despite some logistical challenges and weather conditions, the event was successfully conducted, and the trainees enthusiastically enjoyed the lessons learned.
On November 25th, I began my journey to Awatdam village from my home. Although the weather had been fine the previous day, it unexpectedly changed, with heavy rain in the morning. The weather cleared up in the afternoon but remained cloudy.
At 11:00 AM, I left my house, and upon arriving at Saya Pongshar’s house, I was informed that Saya Pongri Jung could not accompany us due to illness. Despite this setback, Saya Meinong Shin and I continued our journey. However, about halfway up the mountain, my motorcycle broke down, and it could no longer climb the slope. We returned to the village for repairs. Although the motorcycle was eventually fixed, it was already dark, so I stayed overnight in a nearby village, while Saya Meinong Shin returned to his home.
The next day, Sunday, I had the opportunity to fellowship with the local church and share the Word of God. At noon, Saya Meinong Shin rejoined me, and we continued our journey. The weather was cloudy but dry. After about two and a half hours of riding, we finally arrived in Awatdam Village at 4:00 PM.
Awatdam Church consists of around 20 families, and the village is located about 30 miles from my house. Although the road had been recently improved, it was still rough and damaged by landslides and rain.
The Servant Leadership Workshop aimed to equip the participants with a deeper understanding of leadership from a Christian perspective. During the workshop, we explored various leadership styles, focusing particularly on the servant leadership model as taught by Jesus Christ. The trainees were encouraged to reflect on their leadership types and the impact these could have on their ministries.
The training sessions were held in the Rvwang language, which was a blessing for the participants as they were able to learn in their native tongue. The workshop covered: Reflections from Trainees The trainees were deeply appreciative of the workshop and shared their reflections:
- Gratitude for Learning: “I am very glad for the privilege to learn Christian servant leadership.”
- New Concepts: “I did not know about such things before. It is a great chance to learn new concepts of servant leadership roles.”
- Personal Impact: “Knowing about my leadership type has greatly helped me in the ministry of the Lord.”
- Request for Expansion: “We hope this workshop will be held widely in many different areas.”
- Learning in the Native Language: “I am greatly glad to learn in my language.”
- Improved Confidence: “In the past, I felt frustrated with my leadership style. But now, I know four types of leadership, and their strengths and This gives me the courage to commit to the ministry.”
- Unity in the Church: “Knowing these types of leadership helps all workers in the church to be united in the work of the Lord.”
- Christlike Leadership: “The workshop helps us to emulate Jesus’ leadership style and corrects wrong leadership concepts, making us more like Jesus.”
- Wider Application: “Besides Christian leaders, political leaders, racial leaders, every family, and all believers should learn these radical lessons.”
To God be the glory for the successful completion of the workshop. I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who made this event possible, especially Saya David Sangdong for initiating this workshop in the churches. Special thanks also go to DAI and the donors, as without their support—both financially and through prayers—the workshop would not have been possible. May God continue to use all of you in His ministries.
