The book Healing the Wounds of Trauma: How the Church Can Help was first published in 2004 in response to requests from church leaders from war zones who needed to know how to help their traumatized people. as the trauma healing ministry based on that book spread, it became clear that children are traumatized as well, and often they do not even have the language to be able to express their pain.
This book is intended for church leaders who are helping children between the ages of eight and thirteen years and who are able to read and write to some extent. The children should receive a copy of the Healing Hearts Club Book (Stories & Activities).
The curriculum offers a healing experience for traumatized children, seen in the diagram below. It helps children begin to understand and name the wounds of their hearts and learn healthy ways to release their pain. it concludes with practical ways children can become ready to face new challenges and opportunities.
